A registered professional engineer, Mamon Powers, Jr. provides the strategic direction and leadership that governs the firm.
Mamon worked with his father and company founder to drive company expansion and growth throughout Indiana and Illinois. He was integral in managing Powers & Sons' transition from its early focus on residential construction to large public works, commercial, industrial, health care, education, and other types of general contracting and construction management projects.
Today, Powers & Sons is one of the nation’s largest minority-owned firms. It was first included on Black Enterprise magazine's “Top 100” companies in 2017. The firm rose 30 spots (a 157 percent increase in growth) to achieve a ranking of 32 on its 2019 BE “Top 100” list.
- A current member and former vice chair of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE) Calumet chapter, Mamon has served on the board for the Associated General Contractors of Indiana and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, where he was a trustee of the union’s health, welfare, and apprenticeship funds.
- Mamon is a former member of the Chicago Regional Board of Directors for Fifth Third Bank and Methodist Hospitals, where he previously chaired the hospital board and its finance committee.
- He was appointed to the Purdue University Board of Trustees by Governor Evan Bayh in 1986. He served three additional governors with four terms on the board, retiring as vice chair in 2011. Mamon holds an honorary doctorate from Purdue in civil engineering.
